The process of researching titles is very detailed and time-consuming, and therefore our service is provided on the basis of a commission. Our researchers will use their best endeavours to find a bygone title that meets your requirements - for example, having some historical link to your surname, to your ancestors or to your place of birth.

Once you have made a deposit of £500 (which will be held in trust by our solicitor) we will search for a bygone title for you, and when we have found one, we will charge a fixed fee, at a rate depending on whether there is a Royal connection. The following commission rates are subject to United Kingdom VAT at the current rate, and are inclusive of all solicitors' fees and registration:

  • Standard bygone Lordship title - £5,000
  • Title of Royal descent (once held by a monarch) - £7,500
  • Title of Multiple Royal descent (held by more than one monarch) - £10,000

If we are unable to find a bygone title that meets your specified requirements, your deposit will be refunded in full.
